Caldwell Cross Country, under first year Head Coach Jason Hunt, finished with a strong showing at the IHSAA Cross Country State Meet hosted in Pocatello.  After qualifying both boys and girls teams in 2015, Caldwell repeated the feat this season at the District Meet at Eagle Island.  The girls finished the SIC meet 2nd and the boys finished 4th.  Caldwell had two top 10 finishers at Districts with senior Hannah Webster placing third and junior Juan Saavedra placing ninth.  Other medal winners at Districts were junior Max Standley (11), Ivan Escobedo (16).  Medal winners on the girls side were Mikayla Darrington (18), Jade Martinez (19), and Katie Webster (20).  Sophomore Star Campos took the JV Girls individual title.

At State, both boys and girls finished well above their seeded positions.  The boys took seventh overall and the girls finished sixth.  Hannah Webster was seeded 18th going into the race and finished 7th, earning All-State honors, with a time of 19:59.  Juan Saavedra was seeded 28th and medaled in 16th position, earning All-State honors.

Head Coach Jason Hunt received SIC Girls Coach of the Year honors.

Congratulations to all runners and coaches for their team and individual accomplishments in 2016.
