Caldwell Cougars Varsity Drops Game To Columbia After Late Score
Caldwell Cougars Varsity stayed in it until the end, but Columbia pulled away late in a 4-3 victory on Thursday. The game was tied at three with Columbia batting in the top of the seventh when Colton McKinster doubled off of Gerardo Madera, driving in one run.
Columbia evened things up at three in the top of the fifth inning. A wild pitch by Dyson Scott scored one run for Columbia.
Carson Brown earned the win for Columbia. He pitched three innings, allowing zero runs, one hit, and striking out two. Tyler Smith threw three innings, as two relievers helped Columbia finish off the victory. Braden Ray recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Columbia. Gerardo Madera took the loss for Caldwell Cougars Varsity. He threw one inning, allowing one run, two hits, and walking zero.
Scott started the game for Caldwell Cougars Varsity. He tossed six innings, surrendering three runs, four hits, and striking out eight.
Ryan Reeves and Conner Doan each drove in one run to lead Caldwell Cougars Varsity.
Columbia collected six hits. Colton McKinster and Payton Mills each collected multiple hits for Columbia.
