Caldwell Cougars Varsity Loses Lead Early In Defeat
Caldwell Cougars Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-3 loss to Ridgevue on Thursday. Ridgevue scored on a single by Jason Newberry in the first inning, a single by Parker Summers in the first inning, a single by Christian Bachik in the first inning, a groundout by Brooks Wann in the first inning, and a error in the first inning.
Ridgevue took an early lead in the first inning. Ridgevue scored one run when Jason Newberry singled with zero outs in the first inning.
Caldwell Cougars Varsity scored three runs in the second inning. Caldwell Cougars Varsity scored on a single and a single by Dyson Scott.
Hayden Tena earned the win for Ridgevue. He went five innings, allowing three runs, five hits, and striking out three. Corbin Beets took the loss for Caldwell Cougars Varsity. He pitched two innings, surrendering eight runs, nine hits, striking out two, and walking one.
Caldwell Cougars Varsity had six hits in the game. Scott and Carlos Flores each collected multiple hits for Caldwell Cougars Varsity. Scott led Caldwell Cougars Varsity with one run batted in. He went 3-for-4 on the day.
Ridgevue collected 13 hits. Tena, Kade Linder, Newberry, and Parker Summers each collected multiple hits for Ridgevue.
